American Mariner Industries

American Marine Ltd., operating under various names including American Mariner Industries, was a major yacht manufacturer based in Hong Kong and Singapore from 1963 to 1987. Founded by Bob Smith, the company became famous for building the Grand Banks line of trawler yachts designed by Kenneth Smith. They also produced sailing yachts under various brand names including Laguna, Endeavour, and Mariner series. The company pioneered high-quality production yacht building in Asia, combining American design expertise with Asian craftsmanship. At its peak, American Marine operated multiple facilities and produced hundreds of yachts annually, establishing the template for Asian yacht construction that continues today.
