Don Wennersten

Don Wennersten (active 1970s–1980s) was an American naval architect and yacht designer known for his contributions to S2 Yachts' early fiberglass sailboat lineup, particularly in the trailerable racer-cruiser category. As an in-house designer for S2 during its formative years, Wennersten focused on practical, seaworthy designs that balanced performance with affordability, influencing the company's shift from powerboats to sail. His work emphasized simple rigs, stable hulls, and MORC rule compliance, paving the way for collaborations with external firms like Graham & Schlageter. Wennersten's designs remain popular among Great Lakes sailors for their durability and ease of trailering.
