Jim Brown

Jim Brown is an American multihull designer and author who pioneered modern trimaran design and cruising multihull development. Starting in the 1960s, Brown created numerous innovative trimaran designs that emphasized seaworthiness, practical construction, and offshore capability. His designs include the Searunner series and various other trimarans that proved multihulls could be safe, practical offshore cruising boats. Brown's books and articles on multihull sailing helped establish the modern cruising catamaran and trimaran movement. He influenced generations of multihull designers and sailors through his innovative designs and educational writings.
