Gulf Coast Sailboats

Gulf Coast Sailboats, founded in 1971 in Texas by naval architect Martin Bludworth and entrepreneur Fred Maudlin (whose family-owned Maudlin and Son Manufacturing provided manufacturing support), was a short-lived but influential builder of affordable fiberglass daysailers and small cruisers tailored to the shallow, choppy waters of the Gulf Coast, producing around 200–300 hulls across a range of 10 to 36 feet before ceasing operations at the end of 1980 amid economic pressures and market shifts.
