Tiberias Marine

Tiberias Marine, also known as Galilee Boatworks or Tiberias Marine Inc., was a small-scale American fiberglass sailboat manufacturer based in Maryland during the late 1970s and early 1980s, with some production records indicating operations in Sarasota, Florida, by the mid-1980s. Specializing in affordable, trailerable daysailers for recreational and instructional use, the company is best remembered for building the Steven J. DiLeo-designed Galilee 15—a compact 15-foot monohull launched in 1980 that emphasized classic lines, a lifting keel for shallow-water access, and simple fractional sloop rigging, with an estimated 50–several hundred units produced before the yard ceased operations around 1985–1986. Drawing its name from the biblical Sea of Galilee, Tiberias Marine focused on entry-level vessels for families and beginners, producing durable, low-maintenance boats that prioritized portability (under 600 lb displacement) and responsive performance in protected waters over luxury or offshore capability. Little is documented about the founders or precise production numbers, reflecting its boutique status amid a competitive era of small-boat builders, but surviving examples remain popular on the used market
