Ferrier Marine
Farrier Marine is a renowned New Zealand-based manufacturer specializing in high-performance, trailerable folding trimarans (and some catamarans). Founded by the legendary designer Ian Farrier (1947–2017), the company revolutionized multihull sailing with its patented Farrier Folding System™ — a hinge-free mechanism that allows amas (outer hulls) to fold inward in seconds for easy trailering, docking, or storage, without compromising structural integrity. This innovation made fast, seaworthy multihulls accessible to everyday sailors, blending speed, safety, and portability.
Over 3,000 Farrier-designed boats are sailing worldwide, from coastal racers to family cruisers. After Ian's passing in 2017, the company was acquired in 2018 by Daedalus Yachts (Edenton, NC, USA), but operations remain centered in Christchurch, NZ, with a U.S. office in Plano, TX. As of 2025, Farrier Marine is thriving, focusing on production of its flagship F-22 (with a multi-year order backlog) and developing foiling upgrades. The official site (f-boat.com) handles sales, parts, and support.
