Goman Boat Limited
Goman Boat Limited – Canadian Innovators of the 1980s Express Line
Goman Boat Limited was a short-lived but influential Canadian boatbuilding company based in Midland, Ontario, active in the early 1980s. Founded by Bill Goman and Steve Killing (both former C&C Yachts employees who left in 1979), the firm specialized in high-performance racer-cruiser sailboats, leveraging Killing's design expertise to create affordable, lightweight vessels for Great Lakes and coastal sailors. Goman focused on epoxy-laminated fiberglass hulls with wood trim, emphasizing speed, balance, and simplicity. Production peaked at over 100 hulls before merging with Express Yachts in 1985, forming Express Yachting—which continued building the Express line until the late 1980s. The merger preserved Goman's legacy through models like the Express 35 blending racing thrill with cruising comfort.
