Laguna Yachts
Laguna Yachts was an American sailboat manufacturer based in Stanton, California, active from 1973 to 1986, specializing in affordable, trailerable fiberglass sailboats for coastal cruising and club racing. Founded by W. Shad Turner, the company produced compact, user-friendly designs that evolved from the Windrose and Balboa lines, utilizing shared hull molds to offer accessible, stable boats for beginners and families. Key models included the Laguna 22, 24, 26, 30, and 33, known for their solid fiberglass construction, fin keels, and spacious interiors for their size. With an estimated 1,000–1,500 boats built, Laguna capitalized on the 1970s–1980s trailerable sailing boom but went bankrupt in 1986 amid economic challenges and competition from larger builders like Catalina.
