Albin Marine

Albin Marine, originally Albin Marin AB, was a pioneering Swedish boat manufacturer founded in 1899 by Lars Albin Larsson in Kristinehamn as Albin Motors, specializing in marine diesel engines. The company transitioned into boatbuilding in the 1960s, producing its first fiberglass sailboat in 1966 and becoming a global leader in affordable, seaworthy sailboats and motor cruisers. At its peak, Albin exported to the U.S., UK, and beyond, building over 3,000 sailboats and 5,000+ motorboats before bankruptcy in 1982. The brand was revived as Nya Albin Marin, continuing production into the 1980s, and in 2008, the name was acquired by a U.S. firm (Albin Marine of Portsmouth, RI) for powerboats. Albin's designs, often by Peter Norlin and Per Brohäll, emphasized North Sea toughness—stable, roomy hulls for family cruising and racing.
