Sailstar Boat Co.
Sailstar Boat Co. was a small, short-lived fiberglass boat manufacturer based in West Warwick, Rhode Island, operating during the mid-1960s as part of the post-war recreational sailing surge in New England. Established around 1964–1965, the company capitalized on the region's yachting boom by acquiring molds for established designs, focusing on affordable, trailerable daysailers and cruisers tailored for coastal and lake sailors. Sailstar is particularly noted as a brief but pivotal builder in the lineage of Carl Alberg's Sea Sprite 23, where it introduced a modified "Daysailer" variant—emphasizing open cockpits and simplicity over overnight accommodations. As a predecessor to the more prominent Bristol Yachts (founded by Clinton Pearson), Sailstar bridged smaller artisan yards with emerging industry consolidation, producing a limited number of vessels before its molds and operations transitioned onward around 1966–1967.
