Yamaha 30-1
Description
The Yamaha 30-1 (also known as the Yamaha 30 or Yamaha 30 Mk I) is a classic Japanese fiberglass cruiser-racer sloop designed by Sparkman & Stephens and built by Yamaha Marine (Japan) from 1977 to 1980. Approximately ~50 units were produced, making it a rare, high-quality import aimed at the U.S. market during the late 1970s offshore racing boom. The "-1" suffix denotes the Mark I version, which featured a fractional rig and IOR-optimized hull for the International Offshore Rule, emphasizing speed, stability, and seaworthiness. It was Yamaha's entry into sailboat production (before focusing on powerboats/outboards), showcasing Japanese precision craftsmanship with hand-laid GRP, teak interiors, and robust engineering.
