Yamaha 26

Description

The Yamaha 26 (also known as Yamaha 26 Mk I or Y-26) is a Japanese-built fiberglass racer-cruiser sloop designed by Peter Norlin and produced by Yamaha Motor Company (Japan) from 1973 to 1978. Approximately ~300–400 units were built, primarily for export to the U.S. and Europe. It is a scaled-down version of Norlin's successful Scampi 30, adapted for Yamaha's production with a fractional rig, fin keel, and spade rudder—optimized for IOR Quarter Ton racing while offering light cruising capability. Known for solid Japanese build quality, responsive handling, and planning potential, the Yamaha 26 was a competitive club racer in the 1970s and remains a favorite for coastal sailing and vintage regattas. A tall rig version was available for light-air regions.
