Westerly 24 GK (fractional rig)
Description
The Westerly GK 24 (also known as the GK24 or Westerly 24 GK) with fractional rig is the more performance-oriented and commonly preferred variant of this compact British cruiser/racer, built by Westerly Marine Construction Ltd. (Waterlooville, England) from 1976 to 1981, with approximately 320 hulls produced overall (fractional rig examples form a significant portion, often seen as easier to handle for club racing and shorthanded sailing). Designer: Laurent Giles & Partners (the British naval architecture firm; specifically adapted from Ed Dubois' successful 1973 IOR quarter-ton prototype Ebblake IV, with refinements by Laurent Giles' team and Westerly's Chris Hawkins for production—adding displacement, keel options, and a flush deckhouse for better headroom).
