Trac 18
Description
The Trac 18 (also known as the TRAC-18 or AMF Trac 18) is a lightweight fiberglass catamaran sailing dinghy designed as a one-design racer and recreational daysailer. Developed by brothers David and Jerry Hubbard, it was produced in the United States by AMF Corp. (through its Alcort division) starting in 1982. At 18 feet in length, it's a trailerable, beach-launchable catamaran ideal for beginners, families, or solo sailors on lakes, bays, or calm coastal waters. The boat features a rotating spar sloop rig, dual transom-hung rudders, and no daggerboards or centerboards—relying on the hulls for lift and stability. Its wider beam (8 feet) provides excellent stability compared to smaller Trac models like the Trac 14, but the lightweight construction allows for planning speeds. Approximately 100 units were built.

Disclaimer. Boats are not all the same -- even when produced in the same factory of the same model. Sailrite does its best to publish accurate dimensions, but we often find it worthwhile to have our customers measure their boats carefully before we produce kits for them. You should take the same precautions, especially when the data is not from Sailrite.
