Swallowcraft 40 (Swift 40)
Description
Swallowcraft 40 (also known as the Swift 40 or Swift 40 Ketch) is a 40-foot center-cockpit ketch from the late 1970s to early 1980s. It was designed by the renowned firm Sparkman & Stephens and built in South Korea by Swallowcraft Co. (a division of Kang Nam Shipbuilders / Kangnam Chemical Co., Ltd.), which was associated with higher-quality construction to Lloyd's of London standards for some yachts of that era. This model fits the pattern of many "Swallowcraft" or "Swift" boats exported from Korea during that period — solid, traditional cruisers aimed at the North American and international markets. It is a full-keel or modified full-keel ketch with a center cockpit, offering good bluewater capability for its size and era.
