Super Tramp

Super Tramp

Description

Super Tramp (also called SuperTramp or Super Tramp Trimaran) is the racing/high-performance variant of the Tramp (or Tramp/Eagle) folding trimaran. It was designed by renowned New Zealand/Australian multihull designer Ian Farrier and built primarily in Australia by Haines Hunter in the early 1980s (notably 1982–1983 models). This was Farrier’s first production folding trimaran design, groundbreaking for its era in combining trailerability, quick setup, and exciting sailing performance. The standard Tramp was more of a daysailer/family boat, while the Super Tramp added a taller mast (typically 3+ feet higher), more sail area, racing-oriented deck hardware (e.g., winches), and a fractional rig setup for better upwind and overall speed. A U.S. version of the base Tramp was marketed as the Eagle by Pyramid International.
