Sun Odyssey 43 Ds
Description
The Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 43 DS (Deck Saloon) is a popular French-built cruising sailboat produced from 1994 to 2006, designed by renowned naval architect Daniel Andrieu. This model builds on the success of the earlier Sun Odyssey 40 DS, introducing a raised saloon with panoramic views for enhanced light and openness belowdecks, making it a favorite for family cruising, charters, or liveaboards seeking comfort without sacrificing performance. The "DS" designation highlights its deck saloon layout, which features large wraparound windows and a raised coachroof for an airy, motorsailer-like interior while maintaining a sleek profile. Constructed with hand-laid fiberglass hulls stiffened by laminated-wood stringers and ring frames (no core in the hull for durability), it's known for its balanced handling, spacious accommodations (up to 8 berths in 4-cabin versions), and value-oriented design. Jeanneau produced it alongside the standard Sun Odyssey 43 (aft-cockpit) and Sun Fast 43 (racing-oriented), sharing the same hull mold for efficiency.
