Hobie Stinger 16

Hobie Stinger 16

Description

The Stinger 16 is a lightweight 16‑foot performance sailing dinghy designed and built by Hobie Cat Company (USA) during the late 1970s. Produced in moderate numbers (several hundred units), it was positioned as an affordable, high‑performance alternative to the Hobie 16 catamaran for monohull sailors. The Stinger features a narrow, low‑weight fiberglass hull, rotating mast, fully‑battened mainsail, and asymmetrical spinnaker, delivering planing speeds and responsive handling. Its beach‑launch design, simple rig, and racing pedigree made it popular for club racing and spirited recreational sailing.
