Spice Island Cutter
Description
The Spice Island Cutter is a charming, heavy-displacement wooden cruising cutter designed by renowned naval architect William Garden. It is also known as the Vashon Island Cutter. Only a small number were built (at least three in 1967 at the Y. Chen boatyard in Taiwan, with possible others as semi-custom or owner-built projects). The famous example Puffin (launched ~1967) has an impressive track record: multiple Pacific crossings, voyages to New Zealand (at least twice), South Pacific islands, and Alaska.
