Speedball 14

Speedball 14

Description

The Speedball 14 is an American sailing dinghy designed by W. Shad Turner and built by Laguna Yachts starting in 1980, though production has since ceased with no specific quantity numbers documented in available sources. This recreational sailboat features fiberglass construction with a fractional sloop rig, retractable centerboard, and transom-hung rudder, designed for shallow water operation, beaching, and trailer transport with its 225-pound displacement and variable draft of 4 inches (centerboard up) to 3 feet (centerboard down). The vessel incorporates a raked stem, plumb transom, and tiller steering that creates a hull speed of 4.92 knots with 128 square feet of total sail area distributed across its Bermuda rig configuration, making it an ideal platform for recreational sailing, sailing instruction, and small boat racing applications where easy handling and shallow water capability are priorities.
