South Coast 25

South Coast 25

Description

The South Coast 25 is an American 25-foot trailerable masthead sloop designed by Warren Metcalf as a coastal cruiser and first built in 1969 by South Coast Seacraft Co. of Shreveport, Louisiana. Production was limited, with approximately 100 boats constructed before the company was sold in 1975 (part of the builder’s effort to compete with models like the Coronado 25; Metcalf tragically died in a diving accident while finishing the design). It features solid fiberglass construction, a fin keel (some reports note variations), and basic accommodations suitable for weekend cruising or family daysailing, with a practical layout emphasizing ease of trailering and handling. Key features include a roomy cockpit, outboard power option, and forgiving sailing characteristics typical of 1960s–1970s pocket cruisers from the South Coast lineup.
