Shearwater 18
Description
The Shearwater 18 is a larger variant (approximately 18 feet LOA) of Joel White's elegant Shearwater double-ender, a traditional-inspired pulling boat (rowboat) with auxiliary sailing capability. Joel White, a noted Maine designer and builder (son of E.B. White), based the original 16-foot Shearwater on narrow Norwegian oselver (estuary workboats or faerings). The 18-foot version was developed as a deeper, roomier option—sometimes described as a custom or stretched commission—better suited for camp-cruising or two rowers while retaining the same light, graceful hull form.
