Seaward Fox 19
Description
The Seaward Fox 19 is an American trailerable sailboat designed by Nick Hake as a compact pocket cruiser, suitable for solo or family day sailing, weekend overnights, and light recreational use on small lakes, bays, or protected coastal waters. Introduced in 1993 by Seaward Yachts (Hake Yachts) in Florida during the trailerable sailboat resurgence, it was Hake's evolution of his earlier designs like the Seaward 17, targeting beginners and recreational sailors with its lightweight, easy-to-launch construction and optional catboat rig for simplicity. Production was low volume (exact numbers unknown, estimated <100 units), ending in the late 1990s as Hake shifted to larger models. The design features a fiberglass monohull with a shoal-draft fin keel and transom-hung rudder for stable, responsive handling, a narrow beam for easy trailering, and a fractional sloop rig (or catboat option) for light-air performance and simplicity, with a low displacement/length ratio for quick acceleration and a moderate ballast ratio for stiffness in gusts, though its low righting moment limits it to calm conditions.
