S2 6.7 (Grand Slam)
Description
The S2 6.7 Grand Slam (also known simply as the S2 6.7) is an American trailerable racer-cruiser sailboat designed by Don Wennersten and the S2 Design Group, introduced in 1980 by S2 Yachts in Holland, Michigan. Production ran until 1983, with approximately 160 units built, making it a limited-run model in S2's "Grand Slam" racing series (alongside the 5.5 and 6.9). The designation "6.7" refers to its approximate length in meters (22 feet LOA). Known for its lightweight planning hull, fractional sloop rig, and sporty handling, it's a dual-purpose boat for club racing and weekend cruising—nimble on lakes or bays but capable of coastal hops. Owners praise its responsiveness, ease of trailering (under 2,000 lb. total), and value, but note the open interior lacks privacy and the low freeboard gets wet in chop. A few early units had fixed keels (4.5 ft draft), but most feature a retractable centerboard.
