Rival 34
Description
The Rival 34 is a classic British bluewater cruising sailboat, renowned for its seaworthiness, solid build, and proven ocean-crossing credentials. It was designed by Peter Brett in the early 1970s as an evolution of the successful Rival 32. Built by Southern Boatbuilding (later Southern Shipbuilding) in Southampton, UK (with some earlier hulls by Marcon), around 174 units were produced from about 1972 into the late 1980s. Many have completed long-distance voyages, including notable achievements like the designer's own boat "Wild Rival" winning the 1976 OSTAR singlehanded transatlantic race.
