Prout Snowgoose 35

Prout Snowgoose 35

Description

The Prout 35 is a pioneering British-built cruising catamaran designed by Geoffrey Prout and first launched in 1968 by Prout Catamarans Ltd. This 35-foot vessel represents one of the early production cruising catamarans that helped establish the modern multihull market, featuring fiberglass construction and a masthead sloop rig configuration. Geoffrey Prout, a visionary in catamaran design, created this boat during the formative years of recreational multihull sailing, when catamarans were still considered experimental by many sailors. The vessel was designed to demonstrate that catamarans could provide both speed and comfort for extended cruising, challenging the dominance of traditional monohull designs. While exact production numbers remain unclear, the Prout 35 was part of the company's successful line of cruising catamarans that helped legitimize multihull sailing for recreational use. The boat features twin hulls connected by a bridge deck structure, providing excellent stability and spacious accommodations while maintaining relatively shallow draft for exploring protected waters and anchorages.
