Parker 275
Description
The Parker 275 is a fast, trailerable lifting-keel cruiser-racer built by Parker Yachts (UK) (G.W. Parker & Son, Boston, Lincolnshire, England) from 1990 to around 1998–2009 (with some sources citing up to 2009 for later hulls or variants like the near-identical Parker 285). It was designed and developed in-house by Bill Parker (with roots tracing back to Ron Holland's earlier Super Seal 26/27 lineage from the late 1970s/1980s, though the 275 features an all-new hull and deck for improved accommodations and performance). Constructed in GRP (fiberglass) with a heavy cast iron lifting keel (daggerboard-style, often manually or electrically hoisted), fractional sloop rig, transom-hung rudder, and a spacious 4–6 berth interior (including 6 ft headroom, enlarged heads, chart table, and double quarter berth), it excels at high performance, shallow-draft versatility (drying out upright on moorings or beaches), coastal cruising, and club racing. Production was limited (around 60 hulls for the 275 series before transitioning to the 285), now long out of production but highly regarded by the active Parker & Seal Sailing Association for its lively sailing, stability (improved ballast over predecessors), light-air capability, and practical shorthanded features.
