Orion 19 (Sailstar)
Description
The Orion 19 (Sailstar) is a classic fiberglass daysailer and small cruiser designed by Robert H. Baker and built by Sailstar Boats (USA), with production starting in 1962. This fractional sloop features a keel/centerboard (keel/CB) hull for versatile shallow-water access and stability, a self-bailing cockpit (including an outboard motor well in some models), responsive and nimble handling suitable for day sailing, club racing, or light overnights, and lightweight construction that makes it highly trailerable. It's known for its simple, forgiving design from the early fiberglass era, with a reported sail area providing lively performance in moderate conditions; production was limited as part of Sailstar's lineup of small boats in the 1960s, and surviving examples (like a 1966 model occasionally listed used) are rare but cherished by vintage boat enthusiasts.
