Nicholson 30

Nicholson 30

Description

The Camper & Nicholsons 30 (commonly known as the Nicholson 30 or Nic 30) is a classic British fiberglass racer-cruiser from the early 1970s, built by Camper & Nicholsons (Gosport, UK). It was developed as an IOR Half Tonner (around the 1/2 Ton Cup class), evolving from the earlier Brigand design (a 9.5m winner in the Middle Sea Race). Hulls were molded by Robert Ives (Halmatic partner), with most fit-out by C&N (some owner-completed). Production was limited—about 63 for the MkI, with MkII following as an update—making it relatively rare today. This is a lively, performance-oriented boat: fast and responsive for club racing or coastal cruising, with good upwind ability thanks to its fin keel and spade/transom-hung rudder setup. It's not a heavy bluewater cruiser like the Nicholson 32/35 series (higher SA/D ratio indicates it's more coastal/racer than offshore tank),
