Galaxy 32-3
Description
The Galaxy 32-3 (also known as Galaxy 32 Mk III or Galaxy 32 Mark 3) is the final and most refined variant of the Galaxy 32 series, a classic American cruiser-racer designed by renowned naval architect William H. Tripp Jr. (with some sources crediting refinements to Peter Canning in collaboration with Metalmast Marine). Built by Metalmast Marine in the USA from approximately 1970 to 1974 in very limited numbers (production was small throughout the Galaxy line, with tooling later used for the related Paceship 32/Tripp 32 in Canada), it features fiberglass construction, a fin keel with rudder on skeg for good tracking and protection, and a masthead sloop rig. This "Mark III" iteration introduced updates like a longer/lower cabin trunk, more swept-back skeg-rudder arrangement, and a squared-off transom compared to earlier Galaxy 32 models—enhancing aesthetics, performance, and interior space while maintaining the series' reputation for balanced handling, seaworthiness, and suitability for coastal cruising or club racing.
