Merit 22
Description
The Merit 22 is a lightweight, trailerable fiberglass sailboat designed by Paul Yates and built by Merit Marine Inc. from 1983 to 1988, with approximately 100–150 units produced. Featuring a fin keel (standard) or centerboard (variant), spade rudder, raked stem, and reverse transom, it’s designed for club racing under MORC (Midget Ocean Racing Club) and PHRF rules (~210–230) and coastal day sailing, with modest accommodations for short overnights. Powered by an outboard auxiliary (typically 4–8 hp in a well), with tiller steering, it’s agile, easy to handle, and highly trailerable.
