Maxi 84
Description
The Maxi 84 is a classic Swedish pocket cruiser from the late 1970s/early 1980s, designed by Olympic medalist and America's Cup skipper Pelle Petterson. Built by Maxi Yachts (Pelle Petterson AB) and Börjesson Brothers in Sweden, around 1,350 hulls were produced between 1977 and 1983. It's renowned for blending solid performance, easy handling, spacious accommodations for its size, and robust fiberglass construction—making it a favorite among family cruisers and coastal sailors who want something rewarding without being overly demanding. This is a masthead sloop (with some fractional rig options on earlier boats), featuring a fin keel, transom-hung rudder, raised topsides for extra interior volume, and a practical layout that punches above its weight in terms of comfort and seaworthiness.
