Macgregor 26 M
Description
The MacGregor 26 is a trailerable fiberglass sailboat designed by Roger MacGregor and built by MacGregor Yacht Corporation in Costa Mesa, California, with three distinct versions produced from 1986 to 2013: the 26S (1986–1995), 26D (1987–1990), and 26M (1996–2013). Marketed as a hybrid "sailboat-motorsailer," it combines sailing with powerboating capabilities, using a water-ballast system (filled for sailing stability, drained for trailering) and a swing or daggerboard keel for shallow-water access. Known for its affordability and versatility, it sold over 38,000 units, earning a cult following among budget sailors for coastal cruising, lake sailing, and occasional club racing. The 26M, the most popular variant, introduced a rotating mast and optional 50–70 hp outboard for planning speeds up to 22 knots.
