Luger 30 Voyager
Description
The Luger 30, more commonly known as the Voyager 30 (Luger), is a trailerable fiberglass coastal cruiser designed by Eric White and Edwin Monk Jr. and built by Luger Industries in Missouri, USA, from 1979 to 1986. Marketed as an affordable "kit boat" or home-completion project, it was aimed at budget-conscious sailors seeking a versatile weekender that could be towed, launched, and rigged single-handedly. With its shoal keel and retractable centerboard, the design prioritizes shallow-water access and easy trailering (legal width, no permits needed in most states), while offering surprising interior volume (6'4" headroom) and stability for coastal hops or lake cruising. About 50–100 were produced, often on custom Holsclaw trailers, making it a cult favorite among trailer sailors despite its "price-beater" reputation. Variants include a ketch rig for better balance in light air and an Islander 30 (Luger) model with minor tweaks.
