The Luders 36, also known as the Cheoy Lee Luders 36, is a classic heavy-displacement cruising sloop designed by Alfred E. Luders Jr. in the late 1960s and built by Cheoy Lee Shipyard in Hong Kong from 1969 to around 1988, with approximately 50-60 hulls produced. This traditional-style cruiser emphasizes seaworthiness and long-distance capability, featuring a full long keel, bowsprit, and dolphin striker for a timeless aesthetic, making it ideal for coastal passages or ocean crossings by couples or small families. Available in sloop, yawl, or ketch configurations, it offers a spacious teak interior with good headroom and storage, though its heavy build prioritizes stability over speed—excelling in moderate to heavy winds but sluggish in light airs.
