Islander Excalibur 26
Description
The Excalibur 26 is a classic American pocket cruiser-racer sailboat designed by the renowned naval architect William Crealock and originally built by Excalibur Marine Corp. (owned by Tom Pearson) starting in 1967, with about 25 units produced initially. In the late 1960s, the molds were acquired by Islander Yachts (later Tradewind Yachts), leading to around 200 more built until the mid-1970s, for a total of approximately 220–225 hulls. This 26-footer was one of Crealock's earliest commercial designs, optimized for the Midget Ocean Racing Club (MORC) rule, emphasizing speed, stability, and seaworthiness in a compact package. It's celebrated for its advanced lines—long waterline, high sail area/displacement ratio (SA/D ~20–23), and low displacement—making it a "light racer" that's fun and agile for coastal racing or family day sails.
