Description
The Islander 26 is a compact, trailerable American pocket cruiser sailboat designed by Robert Perry and built by Islander / Tradewind Yachts in Newport Beach, California, from 1976 to 1977, with approximately 10–20 units produced in a limited run. This 26-footer was conceived as an offshore-capable "pocket cruiser" with a lifting keel for shallow waters or trailering, blending the seaworthiness of larger designs with dinghy-like agility. It's a masthead sloop with a fin keel (retractable centerboard option) and spade rudder, earning praise for its sturdy fiberglass construction and balanced performance despite its size—ideal for solo sailors, couples, or families on coastal hops or short passages.
