Intrepid 35
Description
The Intrepid 35 (also known as the Heritage Intrepid 35 or simply Intrepid 35) is a Canadian fiberglass cruising sailboat designed by the respected firm McCurdy & Rhodes (James A. McCurdy and Philip "Bodie" H. Rhodes) as a capable, seaworthy cruiser emphasizing classic lines, reassuring stability, good performance in varied conditions, and practical accommodations for coastal or offshore use. First built in 1983, it was produced by Heritage Yacht Builders in Oakdale, Ontario (initially), and later by Intrepid Yachts in Taunton, Massachusetts (with some limited builds or completions elsewhere, including a few by Cape Dory Yachts in the US). Construction features a solid fiberglass hull with a fin keel and skeg-mounted rudder for balanced handling and protection, moderate displacement for comfort without excessive weight, a masthead sloop rig, and interior layout with standing headroom, good stowage (prioritizing function over volume), galley/head, and berths suited to couples or small families—often praised for its "smallish but efficient" interior, excellent sheer line, and similarity in layout/hull shape/performance to contemporaries like the C&C 35. Production was very limited (only a handful built, with estimates around 5–10 known hulls across builders, as it was not a high-volume model before going out of production).
