Hawk 18 catamaran

Hawk 18 catamaran

Description

The Hawk 18 is a small, lightweight plywood catamaran designed by Selway-Fisher Design (UK-based naval architects specializing in simple, home-build boats), with plans available through Duckworks and Selway-Fisher sites. It's an ultra-simple stitch-and-tape (epoxy-plywood) beach cat/day cruiser aimed at coastal exploration, camping, or shallow-water sailing—featuring narrow hulls (sit-in style with built-in buoyancy and storage), detachable crossbeams (bolted for easy disassembly/trailering), and optional daggerboards or a fixed low-aspect keel alternative. The design emphasizes minimalism and affordability (uses about 14 sheets of plywood total), making it popular for amateur builders; examples have been constructed in places like Ukraine, the Philippines, and elsewhere.
