Hanse 331
Description
The Hanse 331 is a compact cruising sailboat produced by Hanse Yachts AG, a German yacht builder celebrated for its innovative and user-friendly designs. Launched in 1997 as one of Hanse’s early models, it was designed by Carl Baier and built under the direction of founder Michael Schmidt, marking the company’s entry into production sailboats after evolving from a yacht repair yard. The 331 is a fractional sloop emphasizing simplicity, with a self-tacking jib and lines led aft for easy handling, making it ideal for single-handed sailing or small crews. Its timeless design, with a sleek hull and functional deck, offers a balance of performance and comfort for coastal cruising, with CE Category A ocean certification for occasional offshore passages. Production ran from 1997 to around 2002, with the model succeeded by designs like the Hanse 341. The 331 helped establish Hanse’s reputation for quality and value, winning the European Yacht of the Year award in 1998 for its class.
