Gulf Coast 26

Gulf Coast 26

Description

The Gulf Coast 26 is a classic American trailerable cruiser/racer from the early 1970s, designed by Martin Bludworth and built by Gulf Coast Sailboats (founded by Bludworth and Fred Maudlin, associated with Maudlin and Son Manufacturing in Texas, USA), with production spanning roughly 1971 onward as part of a line of small fiberglass sailboats (10'–36') before the builder ceased operations around 1984. It's a lightweight, swing-keel (lifting keel) masthead sloop emphasizing versatility for coastal daysailing, trailering, and shallow-water access (e.g., bays, lakes, or beaching), with spirited performance from its generous sail plan and low displacement—making it lively in light winds yet stable with good righting capability for its class.
