Gulf Coast 15

Description

The Gulf Coast 15, a compact fiberglass daysailer and tender designed and produced by Gulf Coast Sailboats in Texas from the late 1960s to early 1980s (with around 100–200 hulls built before the company's closure), offers simple, affordable fun for solo or family outings on lakes, bays, or as a yacht auxiliary, emphasizing ease of trailering and beaching in shallow Gulf waters. Measuring 15 feet LOA with a 5-foot beam, 22-foot-9-inch mast, and 10-foot-4-inch boom on a lightweight hard-chine hull (displacement around 400–500 pounds, pivoting centerboard drawing 2 feet down or 6 inches up), it features a fractional sloop rig with approximately 90–100 square feet of sail area—delivering a SA/D ratio of ~22 for lively performance up to 5 knots in light breezes, though its D/L ratio of ~120 marks it as a responsive racer-daysailer rather than a stable cruiser. The open cockpit seats 3–4 comfortably with basic flotation seating, a small forward locker for gear or a portable head, and an optional outboard bracket for 2–4 hp auxiliary.

Custom sail calculations are not possible for this boat as no I, J, P and E dimensions are available.
