Description
The S2 Grand Slam 6.7 (commonly called the S2 6.7 or S2 6.7 Grand Slam) is a compact, trailerable American sailboat produced by S2 Yachts (Holland, Michigan) from 1980 to around 1983. Designed by Don Wennersten (and the S2 Design Group) as part of the "Grand Slam" performance series (which included the smaller 5.5 and later-related 6.9/7.9 models), it's a lightweight racer-cruiser aimed at club racing, daysailing, and occasional weekend/overnight cruising. About 160 were built, with most featuring a lifting/retractable keel for easy trailering, though a rare fixed-keel variant (only ~18 units) existed for stiffer racing performance. It's known for its nimble, responsive handling—quick in light to moderate winds, planing potential downwind, and fun sporty feel—while offering basic accommodations for 2–4 people. The fractional sloop rig and low freeboard make it lively but wet in chop; owners often praise its build quality (fiberglass hull, balsa-cored deck) for the era and ease of trailering (lightweight and compact).
