Description
The Gloucester 27 is a classic American coastal cruiser designed by Stuart Windley and Harry R. Sindle and built by Gloucester Yachts Inc. (successor to Lockley Newport Boats) in Gloucester, Virginia, USA, starting in 1983 (production limited, likely a few hundred hulls or fewer before the company ceased operations around 1988). This fiberglass monohull features a fractional sloop rig, fin keel with spade rudder for balanced performance and good upwind pointing, moderate displacement for comfortable motion, and practical accommodations suitable for weekend cruising or short coastal passages—typically a small cabin with V-berth forward, saloon settees (convertible to berths sleeping 4–5 modestly), compact galley/head, and headroom around 5 ft 10 in–6 ft.
