Gibsea 105
Description
The GibSea 105 (also written as Gib'Sea 105 or Gib Sea 105) is a popular French family cruiser-racer from the early 1980s, designed by Joubert Nivelt Design (a prolific French firm known for balanced, user-friendly yachts) and built by Gibert Marine (later absorbed by Dufour) in France between 1980 and 1987. Approximately 359 hulls were produced (including variants like the "Plus" or updated models leading into the Gib'Sea 106), making it one of the more successful Gib'Sea series—widely used in the charter trade (especially Mediterranean) for its affordability, spacious layout, and solid cruising performance. It's a fiberglass monohull masthead sloop (some with wheel steering) emphasizing comfort and versatility: good light-air capability from its generous sail plan, forgiving handling, and practical accommodations (typically 2–3 cabins sleeping 6–8, V-berth forward, saloon with settees, galley, enclosed head, teak or practical trim, and headroom around 6 ft+). Keel options include deep fin (~5.9–6 ft / 1.8 m draft), shoal fin, or centerboard/lifting keel (~3.9–6.9 ft / 1.2–2.1 m range) for shallow access or offshore stability.
