Description
The Gib'Sea 42 Master (also listed as Gib Sea 42 Master or Gib'Sea 42 Master) is a spacious French family cruiser designed by Joubert/Nivelt (Michel Joubert and Bernard Nivelt) and built by Gibert Marine (Gib'Sea/Gibert Marine) in France from around 1987–1991 (closely related to the Gib'Sea 402/422 series, with the "Master" designation often denoting an owner's version featuring an enhanced aft cabin layout and creature comforts). This fiberglass monohull masthead sloop emphasizes generous interior volume, seaworthiness, and balanced performance—strong in moderate/heavy airs (well-mannered and tough), with a capable rig for light-wind delivery and forgiving handling suitable for coastal/offshore cruising or family use. The "Master" variant highlights a practical, comfortable setup: typically, 2 separate cabins (forward with en-suite head/shower, spacious aft owner's cabin with en-suite), large saloon, galley, additional berths sleeping 6–8 in some configs, teak finishes, and headroom ~6 ft+. Auxiliary is usually a reliable inboard diesel (e.g., Perkins Prima M50 50 hp or similar).
