Gib Sea 92
Description
The Gib'Sea 92 (also styled Gib Sea 92) is a mid-sized French cruiser-racer designed by Joubert/Nivelt (Michel Joubert and Bernard Nivelt) and built by Gibert Marine (Gib'Sea/Gibert Marine) in France from around 1985 to 1988. It evolved from the earlier Gib'Sea 90 (a half-tonner that won Boat of the Year in 1983), sharing the hull but with revised appendages, sail plan, and accommodations for more cruising comfort—adding an aft cabin, larger cockpit, and less aggressive racing focus. This fiberglass monohull masthead sloop features a fin keel with spade rudder for good upwind performance and handling, moderate displacement for balanced motion, and a generous sail plan that delivers excellent light-air capability while remaining seaworthy for coastal or occasional offshore use. The interior is practical and surprisingly roomy for its length: typically 2–3 cabins (including aft cabin), sleeping 6 (V-berth forward, saloon settees, compact galley, enclosed head), with teak/practical finishes and headroom around 5 ft 9 in–6 ft / 1.77–1.83 m. Auxiliary is usually a small inboard diesel (e.g., Volvo Penta 2002 or similar, often overhauled).
