Description
The Gib'Sea 312 (also styled Gib Sea 312) is a compact French family cruiser-racer designed by Joubert/Nivelt (Michel Joubert and Bernard Nivelt) and built by Gibert Marine (later absorbed by Dufour Yachts) in France from 1988 onward (production into the early 1990s). This fiberglass monohull masthead sloop emphasizes a balance of performance and comfort—forgiving handling, good stability, and a generous sail plan for light-to-moderate wind capability—while offering surprising interior volume for its size (typically 2 cabins sleeping 4–6, V-berth forward, saloon settees, galley, enclosed head, and headroom around 6 ft+). It's well-suited for coastal cruising, family weekends, or club racing, with a reputation for solid French build quality and seaworthiness in moderate conditions (though typical '80s–'90s gelcoat/teak maintenance applies). Keel is usually fin with spade rudder (some shoal/wing keel variants exist for shallower draft ~4.6 ft / 1.4 m).
