Gib Sea 126
Description
The Gib Sea 126 (also styled Gib'Sea 126) is a spacious French bluewater-oriented cruiser designed by Joubert/Nivelt (Michel Joubert and Bernard Nivelt) and built by Gibert Marine (Gib'Sea/Gibert Marine, France) from 1981 to around 1986–1987. With approximately 87 hulls produced (per some sources; others note limited but consistent output), emphasizing robustness, comfort, and seaworthiness for extended coastal/offshore cruising or liveaboard potential. This fiberglass masthead sloop features a strong hull (often described as "heavy oceanworthy" by owners, with examples logging thousands of miles), good stability, and easy handling—graceful under sail with balanced performance in varied conditions. Accommodations are generous for its era (typically 3–4 cabins sleeping 6–8+, V-berth forward, large saloon, galley, multiple heads, teak/practical finishes, and headroom ~6 ft+), making it popular for family/charter use (especially Mediterranean). Keel is standard fin (deep draft for good upwind); auxiliary is typically a diesel (e.g., Yanmar 4JH2 51 hp or similar).
