Description
The Gallart 13.5M (also listed as Gallart 13.5 or Gallart 13.50 MS in some databases) is a substantial performance-oriented bluewater cruiser sailboat built by Astilleros Gallart SA (Gallart Shipyard) in Barcelona, Spain, starting around 1983–1984. This fiberglass monohull was designed by D. Presles (with some sources noting strong construction emphasis) and produced in limited numbers as a spacious, seaworthy yacht suitable for ocean passages, extended cruising, or liveaboard use—featuring excellent seakeeping, a generous sail plan for strong light-air performance, and robust build quality (often described as "extremely strong," with examples weighing around 15 tons/13,600 kg loaded). It offers comfortable accommodations (typically 3 cabins plus crew quarters in some layouts, sleeping 6–8+ with V-berth forward, saloon, galley, enclosed head, and aft berths), teak or practical interior finishes, and auxiliary diesel power (e.g., Volvo Penta original). Note that Gallart (a Spanish yard pioneering fiberglass in the 1960s) also built many motor yachts under similar naming (e.g., Gallart 13.50 MP Fly or motor versions), so confusion arises in listings— but the sailboat variant (MS for motorsailer or sloop) is distinct, with a ketch or sloop rig in records.
